According to the "Beijing News" report, in May 2020, after the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics medal design proposals were solicited globally, Professor Hang Hai from the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Li Wenlong, a teacher majoring in product design, and Liu Xiao, a teacher majoring in jewelry And several students from the Academy of Fine Arts formed a medal design team.

Hang Hai was a member of the main creative team of the 2008 Olympic Games "Golden Inlaid Jade" medal. He shared the creative process of that year with the team members, analyzed the design ideas of previous Olympic medals, and reviewed the essence of Chinese history and culture. Yu began to trace back to the source, looking for design inspiration.

According to the concept of "Cangbi bows to the sky, Huang Cong bows to the ground", Liu Xiao and Li Wenlong led some students to create a medal design scheme with jade cong as the basic shape, trying to make breakthroughs in the optimization of shape and the selection of new materials. Inspired by the two-ring jade bi, team member Lin Fan conceived the two-ring concentric medal draft. Meanwhile, team member Gao Yitong designed the three-ring concentric ring medal, inspired by the concentric circles on ancient bronze mirrors.

The double-ring jade bi that inspired the designers was unearthed from the Lingjiatan site in Hanshan County, Anhui Province. The Lingjiatan site was discovered in Lingjiatan Village, Tongzha Town, Hanshan County, Anhui Province in 1985. The total area of the site is about 2.2 million square meters. It was determined to be about 5300 to 5800 years ago. The best preserved Neolithic settlement site. Since 1987, several archaeological excavations conducted by the Anhui Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology have found that the settlement site has residences, cemeteries, altars, workshops and nearly 3,000 square meters of red pottery block architectural remains, and a large number of exquisite jade rituals have been unearthed. Artifacts, stone tools, pottery, etc., whose exquisiteness and craftsmanship are rare in other sites of the same period. From this, it can be inferred that Lingjiatan in ancient times was a prosperous city. Experts comment that the Lingjiatan site is an extremely important Neolithic cultural site discovered by archaeology in my country, which provides a reliable basis for exploring the origin of Chinese civilization and is a bright pearl in the history of Chinese civilization.

As the main person in charge of the Lingjiatan Archaeological Project, archaeologist Professor Zhang Jingguo noticed the news at the first time and was very happy. On October 18, 2021, the Lingjiatan Archaeological Project was the only selected project in Anhui in the list of the top 100 archaeological discoveries in a century. Zhang Jingguo believes that the jade unearthed from the Lingjiatan site is enough to rewrite history, "adding a jade age between the Neolithic and the Paleolithic".
